DIFFUSE REFLECTION STANDARD

Blotting paper to be used as diffuse reflective material in license plate characterisation

Evaluation of license plate illumination requires usually relies on the use of diffuse reflective materials which scatter the low angle incident light intot the direction of observation.

A number of standards like FMVSS 108 suggest to use spectrally neutral blotting paper in order to create a product neutral measurement setup.

LMT® offers a material with close to lambertian scattering behaviour, which reflective properties have been calibrated using one of LMT’s RT500 transmission and reflection measurement system.

The material can be easily used within LMT’s license plate measurement setup, which requires only a minum amount of material for each geometry to be characterised.

Each batch of materials consists of three pages (DIN A4) and comes with an indvidual certificate for reflectivity, traceable to a national metrology institute.
